10 Books Like The Alchemists (Adventure + Pseudospirituality)

I was probably seventeen, and I’d just finished this amazing book. I loved the feeling so much that I started looking for books like The Alchemist online.

I read a couple of books after that, but there’s one sad truth:

There are no other books like The Alchemist.

Sorry…

So, why are we here?

Well, I have a few books that will give you a great feeling once you finish reading them. Not too far off, but not the same either. They have the common theme of inspiration, adventure, and pseudo-spirituality.

This is precisely what you want — just something similar to the Alchemist. Good writing can never give you the same feelings if they are well-written.

How I picked my recommendations

My picks have adventures, people following their passions, and self-discovery.

I add memoirs, too, because they are the ones to give you close to what you want if you really enjoyed The Alchemist.

For the skimmers,

These are the 10 Books Similar To The Alchemist:

  1. Eat, Pray, Love — Elizabeth Gilbert
  2. Kite Runner — Khaleed Houseni
  3. Wild by Cheryl Strayed
  4. Born a Crime by Trevor Noah
  5. I Am Malala by Malala Youssafai
  6. Life of Pie by Yann Martel
  7. The Monk Who Sold His Ferrari by Robin Sharma (I have used this book as an explanation of how to use storytelling in marketing.)
  8. The Glass Castle, Jeanette Walls
  9. The Signature of All Things
  10. A Tale For The Time Being — Ruth Ozeki

So, there you have it, my recommendations for anyone who wants to read something like The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho.

Before I create this list, I have to ask myself one important question: Why do people love The Alchemist? Why do I love it?

I was so immersed in Santiago’s life that I wanted him to find what he was searching for. So, a quest is part of the story, but on that quest, he finds profound enlightenment about life generally. In that regard, all the books in this list have those primary things, and they did it so that readers become uplifted at the end.

I hope you enjoy them.
